Q Award Winners - 2009

The Q Awards were held in London today (26/10/09) and the full winners list is printed below. The ceremony was full of interesting twists as Robert Plant thanked 88 people in full during his acceptance speech. Amy Winehouse got stuck in a lift but found time to have a dig at the BNP's Nick Griffin saying he was a "fat, Holocaust-denying c**t". Mojo Award Nominations 2008

The Last Shadow Puppets

Alex Turner looks set for an award or two at this year's Mojo Awards on June 16th after being nominated in the Best Live Act and Best Album with his band Arctic Monkeys. Alex is also in the running for Song of the Year and Breakthrough Act with his new project The Last Shadow Puppets. Welsh singer Duffy is up for three awards (Best Album, Breakthrough Act and Song of the Year)

Arctic Monkeys - Favourite Worst Nightmare

The Arctic Monkeys "Favourite Worst Nightmare" went straight to the top of the UK albums chart this week, to become the fastest selling album of the year as it outsold most of the Top 20 albums put together. Following up their record breaking debut album Whatever People Say I Am, That's What I'm Not was never going to be easy, but the Arctic Monkeys have delivered a superb second album.

From the opening single track "Brianstorm" to the closing number "505", the distinctive sound of the Arctic Monkeys comes through loud and clear - all without compromising them as a band. Earlier pre-album press reports had indicated this album was very different from the first, which could have been worrying for fans - yet "Favourite Worst Nightmare" delivers everything you have come to expect from Sheffield's finest.

This album should go on to become one of the best selling albums of the year and will no doubt bag the boys some more awards to add to their growing collection. For us, the listening public - we get to add a quality album to our collection.
