The world premiere of Salman Khan-starrer Ready will be held in Dubai on June 1.

The Dabangg star will be joined by co-star Asin, on the red carpet of the Grand Cineplex here, followed by an exclusive after-party at a local nightclub, said organisers.

The film also has a Dubai connection as Kubra Sait, a local model, former radio jockey and a TV presenter is making her Bollywood debut with this film.

Ready is a remake of a Telugu film and sees Khan play a romantic at heart whose mission in life is to unite lovers.

He helps Asin escape her own wedding and promptly falls in love with her. The rest of the film sees the couple unite their families into accepting their relationship.

Khan and Asin were earlier in Dubai in 2009 for the world premiere of their film London Dreams.

Yana Gupta splits from Salman Khan?

Yana Gupta is said to have broken up with her boyfriend, Salman Khan.

The divorced actress, who met Khan during the filming of TV show Jhalak Dikhhla Jaa, reportedly wants to focus on her career in Bollywood, The Times of India states.

A source revealed: "Until the show was on, things were fine and their relationship was cruising, but once it ended it was difficult for them to maintain their relationship. Yana began her second stint with B-town, as offers kept pouring in."

Following an absence from the Indian film industry, the half-Czech model is said to be focusing on a comeback.

"She is very serious about her career and the [couple] hardly got time [together]. This created a lot of differences and, finally, a few days back, they parted ways," the source added.

Salman launches Ready music

MUMBAI: Salman Khan was adamant about not wanting to launch the music of his latest film Ready at a five star venue.

Earlier there were reports saying that the actor wanted to gift bicycles to some of the key workers/or their children of Mumbai's Filmcity .

Now there is a slight change in plan. Today, the actor will have the music launch of his film Ready at Filmcity with the cast, the crew and all the staff members of this Government of Maharashtra run studio.

Salman's logic is simple. Says a source close to the actor, "Bhai feels these are the guys who have been with him for the last 21 years. And he feels they have supported him unconditionally through his highs and lows.

He just wants to reciprocate their goodwill and so besides giving them a surprise (obviously the actual plan cannot be revealed) he will also have dinner with them post the music launch."

Salman Khan 'tones down love scenes'

Salman Khan has reportedly asked makers of his latest film to make sure love scenes with co-star Sonakshi Sinha are toned down.

The script of the action film Kick is being revised because of the actor's demands, according to Mumbai Mirror.

Khan is also said to be keen on releasing a 3D version of the Telugu film remake.

Speaking to the paper, an insider revealed: "Salman has always been very careful as far as romantic scenes are concerned.

"But with Sonakshi he has to be doubly careful. He treats her like a child. There was almost no physical intimacy between him and Sonakshi in Dabaang."

The 45-year old actor famously mentored the 23-year-old star and cast her in Dabaang, which is one of the highest grossing films in Bollywood history.

Salman-Sonu take on arm-wrestler from LA, defeat him

It looks like all the abstinence from Mughlai food and alcohol is doing Salman Khan a world of good. These days he is in top physical shape, good enough to take on an African-American physical trainer weighing 150 kg for arm-wrestling. And defeating him!

The incident that happened in Vishakhapatnam earlier this month has had a snowballing effect on the Telugu film industry.

Apparently, Salman took on the LA trainer for impromptu arm-wrestling in front of a number of prominent members of the Telugu film industry. This led to this pricey trainer being sent back to Los Angeles.

Sonu Sood, who was with Salman that evening, verifies the incident. "Yes, Salman challenged the guy who trains Telugu doyen Mahesh Babu's two sons Vishnu and Manoj and many other big actors from the Telugu industry. We were at a party in Vizag. It was on the Park hotel's premises. Both Salman and I were trying to have a good time.

"Many prominent stars from Telugu cinema were also present at the bash. Everyone was talking about this huge bulky 150 kg trainer from LA who was also there. They were all talking about how powerful and invincible he was, and how all the leading men from the Telugu film industry were queuing up to work-out with him."

That's when Salman decided to indulge in serious 'masti'.

Says Sonu Sood: "He announced that I'll be taking on the LA trainer for arm-wrestling. I was quite embarrassed. But by then Salman was in full form. He wouldn't take no for an answer.

And the bigwigs of the Telugu film industry were staring at us. There was no smooth surface to arm-wrestle. So I took on the trainer on a rough wall. Though at the end of it my elbows were badly bruised it was surprisingly easy to defeat him."

Encouraged by Sonu Sood's victory Salman then decided he too would arm-wrestle with the trainer.

That's when the big-name gathering from Telugu cinema that evening got keenly interested. They watched with avid interest as Salman arm-wrestled with their star-trainer from the US -- and defeated him.

For a good 20 minutes thereafter there was utter chaos with Salman and Sonu receiving congratulations from the entire congregation.

News spread in Hyderabad like wildfire the next morning that Telugu cinema's favourite trainer, imported all the way from LA, had been defeated by the "Dabangg" duo. And the trainer has now been packed off back to the US.

Chuckles Sonu: "I wouldn't like to comment on what happened to the trainer. But both Salman and I were surprised by how easy it was to defeat a man as heavy and physically-fit as this trainer. We couldn't stop laughing. We celebrated our victory till the morning."

Salman Khan surprises Manjrekar with 'Bodyguard' offer

Salman Khan is known to ask people close to him to do the oddest of things at the oddest hours. It is therefore no surprise to know that he rang up Mahesh Manjrekar recently with an offer that the director-actor couldn't refuse.

"You're in 'Bodyguard," he told Manjrekar, who has been angling to get Salman to listen to his script for a film that he has been meaning to direct with the star in the lead for a year now.

Now Manjrekar has to join the "Bodyguard" team from April 3.

The funniest part of Salman's film offer is that Manjrekar is clueless about what he's supposed to play.

"He hasn't told me what I play in 'Bodyguard'. He has just asked me to join the unit. I don't mind. I never ask him about my role because I know he's asking me with a good role in mind. I think Salman prefers me to be an actor. He keeps offering me roles in his films. I don't get a chance to direct him at all," said Manjrekar who directed films like "Vaastav" and "Astitva".

Ever since Manjrekar appeared as the main villain in "Wanted", Salman considers Manjrekar as his good luck mascot. Even in "Dabangg", he was cast as Sonakshi Sinha's father.

For Anees Bazmi's "Ready" too, Manjrekar was not told what his role was until he arrived on location in Colombo.

"When I landed there I realised I had a positive role in 'Ready'. Thank god, I wasn't playing a lecher. It was becoming tough for my 17-year-old son to explain to his friends why his father was always playing leery characters. Hopefully, in 'Bodyguard' too I'll have a positive role," said Manjrekar.

Salman Khan's 'Kick' to go 3D?

Director Shirish Kunder is currently working on a separate 3D project starring Akshay Kumar and Khan's protege Sonakshi Sinha.Kunder told Hindustan Times: "Yes, there is an intention to dabble with 3D in Kick. I will soon be meeting Salman to discuss the possibility of using it but nothing has been confirmed yet."

The film, which Deepika Padukone was initially attached to, is a remake of a Telugu hit and will feature several "stylised" action sequences.

According to the paper, Rush Hour 3 stuntman Philippe Guegan is to train Khan personally for the role.

Salman to attempt world record for tearing T-shirts

Actor is getting the most number of T-shirts off his back in the span of a minute

Screen stripper Salman Khan has been tearing off his tees for quite some time now. Suffice it to say the actor has had practice.

He will soon attempt to break the world record for ripping the most number of tees in a minute on TV show, The Guinness World Records Ab India Todega.

The existing record stands at 14, Sallu is gunning for 15.

The show kicks off March 18, is hosted by good friend, Preity Zinta, who has encouraged the Dabangg star to make a go for glory.

Says a source, "Salman had hosted Bigg Boss 4 for the same channel and they are keen to have him appear on this show as well. Dates are being worked out as he is busy with shooting commitments. "

If wishes were horses (and Preity could try!), she'd also like to challenge Hrithik Roshan to break the record of dancing for the most number of hours. . . . For now, she'd be content with Salman saying yes to stripping on television.

Salman grooves to 'Dheela character' in 'Ready'

Bollywood star Salman Khan, known for his notorious behaviour, shot for a funnily titled song "Dheela character" for his film "Ready" in Bangkok.

The song is aimed at describing his character in the comedy film, being directed by Anees Bazmee. Replete with amusing lyrics and Salman's typical dance moves, the song was shot with 100 dancers who were especially flown from Mumbai to Bangkok, said a source.

"Shot a song called Mein karoon toh saala character dhila hai. Hehehe (sic)," Salman posted on his Twitter page after shooting the song last week.

Two choreographers - Raju Khan and Mudassar Khan - have worked together on the song to give it a truly Bollywood feel.

Producers Bhushan Kumar and Rajat Rawail are ecstatic at the way the song has shaped up and are confident that this song will be one of the biggest hits this year, says the source.

"Ready" features Asin Thottumkal opposite Salman. It will release June 3.

Salman Khan's 'Being Human' aims to save lives through healthcare

He may come across as a macho image in his films like 'Dabangg' and Television advertisements, but there is also a human side to this bollywood superstar that comes across through his 'Being human' foundation which has been striving to alleviate the suffering of underprivileged through its social initiatives.

The Being Human Foundation has partnered with Marrow Donor Registry India (MDRI) to create a world class registry of marrow donors in India for patients who have blood-related illnesses like leukemia, thalessemia, aplastic anaemia and congenital immunodeficiency states.

MDRI was set up in 2008 as an NGO at the Tata Memorial Centre with the sole purpose of creating a registry of committed, voluntary and unrelated donors for those patients requiring bone marrow transplantation and without an HLA-matched donor within their families. However, for the registry to be functional, more than one lakh donors need to be registered. People from the age group of 18-50 years are eligible for donor recruitment.

MDRI and Being Human have reached out to generation next by working with colleges to create awareness of the need for a world-class registry in India.

One of the first colleges to participate in this initiative is KJ Somaiya Institute of Engineering and IT, Sion, who as part of their annual college festival, Surge'11, conducted a marrow donation drive on their college premises along with 'Marrowthon', a 6 km run showing support for the cause.

Stressing on the need for more committed donors, MDRI spokesperson said, "We are glad KJ Somaiya has come forward. We hope that this will pave the way for more colleges and their students to come forth and register with MDRI and thus make their contribution towards saving many more lives." Surge'11 will be held from March 3 to 5, 2011.

On February 23, a class to class presentation was conducted for the in house college students who come forward to show their whole hearted support towards the cause and a whopping 335 names have already been added to the registry in a single day.

For now students are encouraged to step forward to volunteer to give someone a tomorrow - 'Just 10 ml of your blood could save a life - Be Human.'

"Actors keep saying that they have stopped charging a price because they are now taking home a share in the percentage of profits.

Salman Khan jumps from 10,000 feet up for soft drink ad

Bollywood's "Dabangg" actor Salman Khan will be seen doing a daredevil stunt in PepsiCo's new Mountain Dew ad - he jumps from 10,000 feet in a "wingsuit" from which a parachute springs open.

"Everyone is afraid of something or the other at some point of his or her life. But if you try to run away from fear, you'd be tired and eventually fear will win. So the best way to overcome fear is to face it, run through it because 'Darr Ke Aage Jeet Hai'," Salman said in a statement.

Salman was initially not so sure about the stunt but he eventually did it. Wingsuit flying is a new sport of flying through the air in a special jumpsuit and pulling the parachute's ripcord as one apporaches the ground.

He is said to be the first celebrity brand ambassador roped in by Mountain Dew.

Alpana Titus, category marketing director (flavoured carbonated drinks), PepsiCo India Beverages, says the new campaign is quite big in terms of quality and budget.

"Salman has jumped from a mountain which was 10,000 feet high. He did have jitters initially but was confident it would work out well and he would be able to overcome his fears in turn," she said.

When asked why Salman was chosen out of all the known faces, Titus said: "Salman was our first choice because he embodies our (Mountain Dew's) tagline 'Darr Ke Aage Jeet Hai' accurately and he also has a nationwide fan following. People in not only the metros but also the remote areas follow him."

The 45-second TV commercial will air from Friday and a 60-second commercial will be shown in theatres.

Shahrukh, Salman at loggerheads again

MUMBAI: Salman Khan and Shahrukh Khan haven't been on talking terms since Katrina's birthday party in 2008 and it seems the fight will not end.

Imran Khan's wedding bash is indeed a testimony to this fact.
It is, indeed, very interesting to note that no actor has sounded apologetic about his behaviour and are firm on their stance of not talking to each other.

Aamir Khan's invitation to both the warring Khans meant at least a mere chance for the actors to bond yet again. But the actors were stubborn and defiant that it's hard to spot any chance of them reuniting.

Salman Khan entered the bash at around 11:45 to bless the wedding couple Imran and Avantika with brother Sohail Khan. Alas, his exit was as sudden and quick as his entry. In fact he was nowhere to be seen when SRK entered the premises.

The industry is murmuring about another loss of opportunity in burying the hatchet between the two. So, it remains to be seen whether

I hate bloody Bollywood

Salman Khan has gone on record to express his displeasure at the term 'Bollywood'.

The Dabangg actor claimed that it was not an appropriate name for the Indian film industry, NDTV reports.

"One of the first film productions was called Bombay Talkies, so call it that or Mumbai Talkies or Indian cinema. Call it anything but not Bollywood," said Khan.

"Bollywood was for when Mumbai was called Bombay... Hate this bloody name," announced the star.

The actor found support from actor Riteish Deshmukh over possible new names for the industry.

"I totally love the term HI-FI for Hindi film industry, instead of Bollywood," posted Deshmukh on his Twitter account.

Storm in Japanese garden over Salman-Kareena shoot

The shooting of Bollywood film Bodyguard starring Salman Khan and Kareena Kapoor in the Pune Okayama Friendship Garden (POFG) has kicked up a storm of protest. Members of the Association of Friends of Japan (AFJ) and other regulars are miffed that people were denied use of the unique garden for the duration of the shoot and add that the facility was damaged by the film crew.

Angry with the Pune Municipal Corporation (PMC) for allowing the shoot, members of AFJ now plan to take up the matter with civic body, the state government and even the Okayama state government.

"We are very upset over the PMC's granting of permission for shooting at the garden.

It is shocking that we were not even informed about it, " said Sameer Khale, president, AFJ.

The PMC laid the garden with Japanese Government funds and technical support on the premises of the Pu La Deshpande Udyan on Sinhagad Road in 2003. This is the first time a Bollywood film is being shot there.

The shooting took place over the past three days. Over 2, 000 people who visit the POFG regularly were stopped from entering the premises. The PMC was paid Rs 50, 000 rent by the producer for the three days of shooting.

"I got to know about the shooting when I saw a crowd. We are taking up this issue with the PMC and the state government, with whom the agreement was made by the Okayama state to create a Japanese garden, " Khale said.

Anant Kulkarni, a senior citizen residing in the area, said that the PMC does not allow even visitors who are charged an entry fee of Rs 5 to step on the beautiful lawns, but it allowed the shooting in which the lawn was used in a big way. Kulkarni said the shooting also resulted in some damage to the lawns.

Mandira Chachar, POFG ticket window clerk, said, "We faced a lot of inconvenience as the garbage created by the crew of the film was a lot and out staff members had to do all the cleaning. On Sunday many senior citizens went back disappointed as the garden was closed the entire day. There is a total loss of Rs 10, 000 in revenue over these three days of shooting."

Gardener Viththal Chandare said that food for the crew was prepared on the premises of Pu La Deshpande Udyan and plastic plates and bottles were strewn around.

"We all heaved a sigh of relief after the crew left late in the evening on Monday, " he said.

Salman Khan to act with Mexican model?

Salman Khan is reportedly going to star alongside Mexican model Ximena Navarrete in the sequel to Partner.

The current Miss Universe is said to have expressed a desire to work with Khan in Partner 2 reports Mumbai Mirror.

A source told the tabloid: "Ximena will romance Salman Khan in the Partner sequel."
Although Katrina Kaif appeared opposite the Dabangg star in the original hit comedy, there are no plans for the actress to reprise the role.

"The makers were looking for the female lead in the film and felt that Ximena fits the bill but she will have to learn Hindi and some Bollywood dance moves for her role," added the source.

Navarrete is said to have started taking Hindi lessons in preparation for the film.
