David Beckham Has Still Got it!

David Beckham has gone from villain to hero at LA Galaxy in a matter of weeks as he scored the winning goal against local team Chivas USA on Saturday. Fans had spent weeks booing Beckham after he spent most of the season at AC Milan, but now LA Galaxy could be serious title contenders after only losing one game out of their past seven games.

Cristiano Ronaldo Holiday Pictures

Cristiano Ronaldo has been out in his tight shorts again enjoying the Vegas sunshine while on his summer holidays before the new football season starts. It seems that all the top footballers are parading around in next to nothing, as seen earlier this week as Rio Ferdinand wore hot pants and a crop top, David Beckham in his Armani pants last week. Ashley Cole still needs a few tips on how to wear shorts though!

Is Ronaldo Really Worth £80m?

Is Cristiano Ronaldo really worth £80m? Just days after spending a reported £56m for Kaka, the Spanish club Real Madrid have bought the Manchester United player for a record-breaking fee.

In times of economic hardship and daily reports of workers around the globe taking pay cuts, it seems that money is no object to Real Madrid. Revenues for the club increased 4% to £290 last year but spending such sums of money doesn't appear to be a problem for the team that wants to be the world's #1.

What do YOU think? Good price or over-priced?

Cristiano Ronaldo is pictured here in his famous white shorts as he soaks up the sunshine while on holiday in Porto Cervo, Sardinia. These pictures appeared in the Sunday Mail and show the Manchester United star topping up his tan. Estimated to be worth £70m, Ronaldo is making the most of the summer break away from football.

Maybe he is trying to catch up with Robinho, who was caught sunbathing back in January (see picture HERE)

David Beckham Motorola Advert

David Beckham's last campaign for Armani saw him stripped to his underwear alongside wife Victoria, with the images shown on 40ft high billboards in the US and across Europe, this time Becks is keeping his trousers on for his endorsement of the new Motorola Aura.

This time David Beckham recreates the role as The Terminator, with special effects showing the topless footballer with a red laser eye.

Cheryl Cole Back With Ashley

It looks like Cheryl Cole has forgiven husband Ashley and taken him back, even after his cheating. The Girls Aloud singer is still madly in love with Ashley and couldn't bear to be apart from him. She is insisting he changes his ways, but I am sure there are a lot of women out there who wish they could give her some advice now.
Looks like Cheryl Cole is in line for more heartache in the coming years, unless a leopard really can change it's spots!

    Coventry City Football Club Saved?

Coventry City Football Club has been in the local press a lot over the past few weeks as the club looks close to going into administration as a deal to take over the club fell through and debts of £28m crippled the running of the Championship club.

Last night the Coventry Telegraph reported that British investors are poised to take over the running of the club and thus avoiding a 10 point deduction for going into administration. Fans across the city have been donating to a special fund set up to support the club - www.skybluetrust.co.uk/ . CCFC have been around for 124 years and is an important part of our city, lets hope a deal can be struck this week and the players can get paid.

    Coventry City Beat Manchester United

    *picture from BBC website.

Coventry City have gone through to the final sixteen of the Carling Cup after a sensational 0-2 victory in front of a 74,000 crowd at Old Trafford. Michael Mifsud scored in the 27th and 70th minute, causing the 11,000 travelling Coventry City football fans to celebrate in style.

After two league defeats, Coventry came out attacking and gave everything to Alex Ferguson's Manchester United. Although it was mostly the youth team, it still featured six international players, who seemed to have under estimated a determined Iain Dowie side. The supporters were 100% behind Coventry and in turn, the players and manager acknowledged this by delivering a result for Coventry that was reminiscent of the 1987 FA Cup final victory against Tottenham.

    Well done Sky Blues!

    Beckham Mania In USA

"Beckham Mania" continues to sweep across America and the rest of the world watches on. Even though David Beckham has sidelined by his ankle injury, the Beckham effect has already begun to lay hold at L.A. Galaxy.

Merchandise sales are up 300% league-wide but in terms of the LA Galaxy they're up 700%, reports Sky Sports.

"That's not what we expected but the Beckham jersey is the number one selling item in (American sports retailer) Sports Authority in the United States - not a basketball, not a football, a Beckham jersey and that's
    pretty good
," Major League Soccer commissioner Don Garber has said to reporters.

So while right across the US, debates go on about David and Victoria Beckham as to whether or not they have any influence in America - sales figures and magazine covers clearly show that "Beckham Mania" is alive and well.......

Coventry City 1987 FA Cup Final - Home coming Video

Thanks to my friend "WoiC" on MySpace for sending the link to this video of Coventry City Football Club during their triumphant return to Coventry, 20 years ago today.

I was a cocky 18 year old and I didn't really understand what it all meant as I'd never been to a football match in my life at that point. For me at 18, it was all about drinking, mates and trying to climb the career ladder as I worked in a supermarket called Gateway in Holbrooks.

Now watching this video for the first time today, brought a tear to my eye, because it reminded me that I was there outside the Council House trying to make my own way home after that Sunday morning overtime shift. Then the sheer volumes of people (estimated 250,000) meant I couldn't go home so had to stand and watch Coventry City Football Team make their way onto the balcony to the raptures of the fans and city that were so proud.

Another reason for feeling quite emotional at watching this video, is because 20 years later I am older and hopefully more wiser. I am proud of the city I was born in, work in and will die in. I'm proud of our past in the FA Cup Final of 1987 and also for all this great city of Coventry has achieved in my life time.

No longer do I think as a child but I've learnt to value more the things that really matter, I've learnt that happiness can come outside of the rat race to make lots of money and have a job title that looks important. The simple things like friends, culture and being free to be myself far out strip the "need" to live in a fancy house or drive a flash car or even to be "seen" to be someone socially.

It's funny how a video like the one above , can put 20 years of living back into perspective!
