Susan Boyle At Breaking Point

Susan Boyle might have the biggest selling album of 2009 and the most watched video on YouTube, but behind the scenes a completely different picture has become the reality. The 48-year-old has suffered very public melt-downs since her meteoric rise to fame over the past year, and is said to be close once again to a breakdown.

Behind the smiles and the songs, lies heartache and loneliness - something fame and money cannot buy. Her brother Gerry has spoken out saying Susan suffers from 'crushing' loneliness and fears she will never fall in love. The Britain's Got Talent star has never had a relationship and has struggled to cope with the fame since becoming a global sensation. Her brother revealed in an interview, "The one thing she wants above all everything else is love. Who doesn't? Her biggest wish is to find someone who she can share her success with and support her through the difficult times."

Susan Boyle has been afraid to sleep at her Scottish home after she arrived home several weeks ago to find an intruder inside. Security has been stepped up, yet this had added to the turmoil. Gerry said, "If I'm honest things aren't great for Susan at the moment on a personal level. She's absolutely exhausted after non-stop travelling promoting her album around the world."

X Factor Judges Paid Millions

X Factor Judges will earn several millions between them as Dannii Minogue was awarded a massive £250,000 pay rise to match Cheryl Cole. Between them they will earn £2m and this is at a time when many other TV presenters are having to endure pay cuts during the recession.

Dannii has just returned to the UK after spending two months in Australia and will begin work on the latest X Factor auditions that have already begun. The bumper wages may be hard for some to accept as many around the country are losing their jobs or face a pay freeze but ITV were keen for Dannii to return for a third series because X Factor had become a ratings winner for the network.

Meanwhile the media world continues to debate the role of TV programmes like X Factor and Britain's Got Talent, following the meltdown of Susan Boyle. The singer has been recovering at London's Priory Clinic after collapsing after the final of Britian's Got Talent with exhaustion.

Real Reason Susan Boyle Lost Britain's Got Talent

Susan Boyle losing Britain's Got Talent must be one of the biggest shock results this decade has produced from a reality TV series. Watched by 19.2 million viewers on ITV, with millions more watching around the world, this series of BGT became the most popular and talked about.

No-one was more talked about than Susan Boyle, she became an overnight sensation as she became a hit with the judges, audience and the viewers. Millions of hits on YouTube and becoming a TV star in the United States seemed to seal Susan Boyle's fate. Bookies had her as the favourite to win, the newspapers were full of stories about her and the pressures of the final week but ultimately it was the general public who would have the last say as they cast their votes in the millions.

The real reason Susan Boyle lost Britain's Got Talent was because we love losers more than we do winners and while Diversity were no losers, the voting public just couldn't vote Susan Boyle to win because they already felt she had won - thanks to all the additional publicity generated by her previous performances. As Brits we prefer to see someone struggle in life and then make it, rather than someone who is talented and has it all. Although Susan had initially struggled (that is why she won our hearts), by the final she already had it all. Everyone knew she would become a massive star so it was time to give someone else a chance. Looking at the finalists of Britain's Got Talent shows just how much we like those who battle to get somewhere - whether it's Hollie with her tears, proud father and son duo Stavros Flatley or third place runner-up Julian Smith with his saxophone.

Being too good or talented can be a downfall sometimes, as Susan Boyle found out - yet she can be assured that now she is a 'loser' again the British public will love her!

Britain's Got Talent: Susan Boyle Loses!

It's the biggest shock of the decade as Britian's Got Talent favourite, Susan Boyle loses out on winning £100,000 and a chance to perform in front of the Queen during the Royal Variety Performance. That is a headline and situation that seemed almost impossible as bookies favourite Susan Boyle was almost certain to win this year's Britian's Got Talent. Here were the ten finalists:

Susan Boyle, singer
Aidan Davis, 11, dancer
Dance troupe Diversity
Father-and-son comedy dance duo Stavros Flatley
Ten-member dance troupe Flawless
Grandfather and granddaughter singing act 2 Grand
12-year-old Welsh singer Shaheen Jafargholi
Saxophonist Julian Smith
Singer Shaun Smith
Hollie Steel
