Farewell
There's Bourne, there's Salt, and there's Farewell, French director Christian Carion's smart, low-key, melancholy dramatization based on a little-known real moment in espionage, circa 1981: Serbian actor-filmmaker Emir Kusturica (Underground) is convincingly fatalistic as a disenchanted KGB officer in Brezhnev's Soviet Union, feeding secrets to an ambivalent, low-level French contact (played by actor-director Guillaume Canet).
