Harry Potter Films Dominate UK Cinema Charts

Harry Potter dominates the Top 10 British movies at the UK box office, according to official figures released by data experts Neilsen/EDI. All five movies have made it inside the Top 10 list, with Harry Potter and the Philosopher's Stone becoming the highest earner in the series. The 2001 release went on to win numerous awards around the globe, including an Empire Award (UK) for outstanding contribution to British cinema.

The latest addition to the Top 10 list comes from Mamma Mia, which has proved a massive hit here in the UK and internationally. Since it's release in July, the film has become the number one film of the year in 13 countries including Germany, New Zealand, South Africa and Sweden. Here in the UK it has become the #1 British movie at the box office already, taking £67.2m ($109m)
