Dr Who : David Tennant Quits

David Tennant as Dr Who
David Tennant has announced he is quitting as Dr Who after filming four special episodes during 2009 and the Christmas special. The popular actor made the startling revelation as he received an outstanding drama award during last nights National Television Awards in London. He told the audience, "When Doctor Who returns in 2010 it won't be with me. The 2009 shows will be my last playing the Doctor."

In an interview with the BBC, David Tennant went on to talk about his reasons for quitting the role as Dr Who, "I think it's better to go when there's a chance that people might miss you, rather than to hang around and outstay your welcome."

Dr Who has proved popular with viewers since the BBC resurrected it after a 16 year break, with 10 million tuning into the final episode of the fourth series.
