Karan Johar reveals: Why Hrithik is the best dancer?

Hrithik Roshan stresses on the importance of dance rehearsals

What makes Hrithik Roshan the best dancing star that B-Town can boast of? Rehearsals. Painfully obvious but so true!

Reveals a source, "Duggu lives, eats, breathes and dreams (literally) of dance just a week before shootings begin! No matter how hectic his schedule or work commitments, he rehearses his steps with the concerned choreographer days in advance.

He begins work on the Agneepath song this week and has been quietly rehearsing (despite shooting for the film all day and working out for an hour and half in the day and night) for the song for one week."

The source adds, "Next he will have to shoot three music videos for the dance reality show Just Dance he's judging. For each song, rehearsals begin a week earlier."

Agneepath producer Karan says Johar that Hrithik is "a relentless rehearsal man, " adding, "exhausting hours result in effortless moves - that's Hrithik for you. He raises the bar of excellence and validates the input equals output theory!"

Says Hrithik, "Along with rehearsals, I actually learn dancing in my sleep. If I can clearly see every moment of the move in my head then my body is able to express it... The downside is that if I can't see it - I can't do it

Case in point

KJo, who directed Duggu in Kabhie Khushi Kabhi Gham, recounts a previous experience: "We had two hours to shoot at the British Museum.

Hrithik was given an elaborate dance piece that could have thrown anyone off, even internationally, but he worked through the night and came straight to shoot. It took just one take and we were done and out of there!"

Hrithik pumps iron for Agneepath remake

Hrithik Roshan goes all out for his look in the upcoming Agneepath remake. From beefing up to 12 kilos more (all muscle) to buying gym equipment worth lakhs. Looks like the effort is worth it, no?

Hrithik Roshan will pile on 12 kilos for his role in Karan Johar's Agneepath. The actor got flabby for Guzaarish as well (and shed the kilos soon after), the difference this time around is that he's building only muscle mass.

Roshan Jr has been working out three hours daily with trainer Satyajit Chourasia despite a hectic schedule. He has also bought gym equipment worth lakhs for his newly renovated gym at his Juhu home.

Expansion

Says Satya, "Hrithik wants to look bigger and heavier than he normally does. He expanded his earlier gym last month to include eight new work-out machines which include chest and leg presses, rowing machines and a cable crossover machine which is like a small gym in itself and includes all body exercises. He used to be 70 kg and has now gained eight kilos. We are now aiming for 84 kg."

Not the same thing

Satya explains that putting on weight doesn't mean putting on flab. "Hrithik is working on building lean muscle mass like Aamir did on Ghajini.

For this kind of bodybuilding you need a very different and rigorous training schedule with proper sleep, correct nutrition, knowledge, motivation and dedication. Hrithik has it all. And he never misses out on his workouts. And like Aamir, he is focused, committed and a professional."

Regular changes

Satya says that Hrithik's exercises are changed regularly. "We improve and bring variations in exercises for faster results. Specific exercises and circuit training are given for specific body parts.

Hrithik does a lot of functional training freehand exercises using body weight like gymnasts and also yoga for flexibility. I have worked with Hrithik since Lakshya. This is the first time I have seen him so bulked up after having a lean and sharp physique."

Hrithik's diet includes

>> Bowls of green salads with fish or chicken breast pieces
>> Low carbs at night
>> Egg whites
>> Brown bread
>> Fruit platters
>> Peanut butter sandwiches
>> Protein shakes
>> Snacks every three hours including Caesar's salads with broccoli and chicken
>> Food with less oil and no sugar

Hrithik, Kareena in Imtiaz Ali's next?

Hrithik Roshan and Kareena Kapoor who were earlier seen in Kabhi Khushi Kabhi Gham, Yaadein, Mujhse Dosti Karoge, Main Prem Ki Deewani Hoon would be seen together after many years in Jab We Met director Imtiaz Ali's next, reports Mid Day.

A source however says the casting might not happen at all. "But that's far from true. Don't they know history? Bebo was supposed to be part of Kaho Naa Pyar Hai, remember? Though she's done films with her once special friend in a lot of movies and has maintained cordial relations, the past does haunt, no?"

But Kareena Kapoor who must be keen on repeating her Jab We Met success might take up the offer with or without Hrithik.

Hrithik Roshan gifts helmer with watch

Hrithik Roshan has presented director Sanjay Leela Bhansali with a Cartier watch.

The actor sent the helmer the gift for his 48th birthday, New Kerala reports.

Speaking to the site, Bhansali said: "Now when Guzaarish is over and there's no talk of another film with him, Hrithik has still kept in touch.

"That's very rare in this profession where relationships change every Friday."

It was reported this week that the script of Guzaarish, which saw Roshan playing a paraplegic, is to be included in the Library of the Academy of Motion Picture Arts & Sciences.

Pictured here is the perfect clay sculpture of Hrithik's head, which was the first step in making the figure. Work is now in the final stages but details of the pose and style of the final figure are being kept a closely guarded secret until the very moment it is revealed.

Roshan has been closely involved in the entire process, including deciding how he will be portrayed and what his figure will wear. Whilst giving no details away, Madame Tussauds is promising the end result will be one of its most daring figures ever and that Hrithik's fans will be delighted.

Hrithik to unveil his statue at Madame Tussauds Friday

Hrithik Roshan, who turned 37 Monday, will become the fifth Bollywood celebrity to have his wax figure at the prestigious Madame Tussauds when he unveils it Friday.

"I never thought in my wildest of dreams that there will be a time in my life when I'll be unveiling my own statue at the Madame Tussauds. I remember once I've stood there in the line for three hours when I was a 12-year-old to see the museum," Hrithik told reporters here.

Amitabh Bachchan, Aishwarya Bachchan, Salman Khan and Shahrukh Khan have already secured their place in the London museum.

"It's just going to be symbolic of my journey. It's going to be something that will motivate me when I'm tired. I'll think of this statue and it will make be keep going and giving my best. It makes me feel great and will help me fight my exhaustion," he added.

Hrithik made his debut in 2000 with the leading role in "Kaho Naa...Pyaar Hai" and became an overnight sensation. Later he gave hits like "Dhoom 2", "Koi... Mil Gaya" and "Krrish".

Scoop: War over, Shah Rukh Khan in Hrithik's Krrish 2

SRK offered role in the Hrithik Roshans' superhero sequel

Shah Rukh Khan and Hrithik Roshan have been bonding big time for a while now. Their personal rapport is likely to extend to a professional level as well. King Khan has been offered a role in the Roshans' home production Krrish 2.

Says a source, "Shah Rukh and Hrithik are the best of pals in the industry today. It was but natural for Roshan Sr to etch a role in his son's flick for his buddy as well. SRK's character in the film will have shades of gray to it."

Adds the source, "The Roshans have already sounded Khan off about having him in their project. And he has told them that he can be available only after the release of his production Ra.One."

The sequel to Rakesh Roshan's 2006 flick has been in the pipeline for a while. After the debacle of Kites and Guzaarish, papa Roshan has taken it upon himself to ensure that his son's career gets back on track.

And considering that Koi Mil Gaya and Krrish did well at the B-O, it is time Duggu wore his superhero cape to create magic again on screen.

Buzz is that Deepika Padukone has been finalised for Krissh 2.

Roshan Sr however maintains, "We have not yet finalised the cast for Krrish 2. We are still working on the script after which I will begin casting. Presently I am out of the country."

The last time SRK and Hrithik came together on screen was in Karan Johar's Kabhi Khushi Kabhie Gham (2001).

Gehri Dosti

If there was any animosity between Shah Rukh Khan and Hrithik Roshan (during Koi Mila Gaya and later during the Krazzy 4 song controversy), it is ancient history now. Roshan Jr has now become a permanent name on that exclusive list of invitees to Mannat.

He and wife Sussanne have been at all parties at King Khan's home and vice versa. Both stars have been catching up on each other often despite their busy schedules. The friendship between wives Gauri and Sussanne also brought them more closer.

FACT

When Krrish had released, Hrithik had a special screening for Shah Rukh so he could get a frank opinion from him.

It's Hot Katrina vs Sexy Loveena this Christmas eve

We are told Katrina (Sheila) Kaif will face some stiff competition from another hottie this Christmas eve -- Loveena -- a toon character from Toonpur Ka Super Hero!

Loveena is this hot and sexy chica who flirts with leading man, Ajay Devgn. Co-producer Krishika Lulla says, "Loveena, the most beautiful girl of Toonpur, falls for Ajay, who plays a superstar in the movie.

Her chic look and naughty adaas can make anyone fall for her. She's a diehard romantic living her dreams to the fullest. " Yeah, we are sure Kat is feeling threatened.

Hrithik Roshan can retire now
The first film Madhuri Dixit-Nene watched after landing in Mumbai a week ago was her Devdas director Sanjay Leela Bhansali's Guzaarish (she hasn't watched his last film Sawaariya).

She has come away impressed with Hrithik Roshan's portrayal of a quadriplegic in the film. She called him to shower praises on him saying it was one of the best performances she had seen in a long time.

Shocked, thrilled

A source close to Hrithik discloses, "He was shocked and thrilled when Madhuri called him on Sunday and chatted with him for 20 minutes about how much she had loved his performance.

She told Duggu that Ethan was the most difficult character she's seen on celluloid and his portrayal blew her mind. " Hrithik has great regard for the Dhak Dhak girl and her words meant the world for him.

Mads complimented him on everything from his voice, to the look in the eyes and told him that she found Hrithik's dance sheer poetry.

She admits, "Yes I did call up Hrithik to praise him on his brilliant performance in the movie. He played a quadriplegic and it's so difficult to do such a role as there's no body language.

He emoted with his eyes so convincingly. I've heard that he really worked very hard on his role.

I told him that he was unbelievably good and he said he could now retire! Even Aishwarya and all the actors have done a good job. Sanjay has made a beautiful film. "

Madhuri reminisces, "I remember when I was shooting for his dad's film Kishan Kanhaiya I heard Hrithik (who was assisting Rakesh Roshan) saying Anil's dialogues loudly in front of the mirror.

I felt he had lot of potential and told him so. Of course he was embarrassed. I had discovered the germ of Hrithik's talent and sincerity even then. He is still the same as hard-working as ever!"

At the time, Mads had told him that he would make his mark in the acting world a compliment Duggu cherishes even today.

Movie Review: Guzaarish

Bollywood appears to be inclined towards exploring rare illnesses/disorders/disabilities, with directors casting megastars in characters to raise awareness about the lesser-known ailments. In GHAJINI, Aamir Khan had short-term memory loss [Anterograde Amnesia]. In PAA, Amitabh Bachchan played a child afflicted with Progeria. In MY NAME IS KHAN, SRK was shown suffering from Asperger Syndrome. In TAARE ZAMEEN PAR, Aamir Khan portrayed problems of Dyslexic children. In BLACK, Amitabh Bachchan was shown succumbing to Alzheimer's. In KARTHIK CALLING KARTHIK, Farhan Akhtar portrayed a Schizophrenic.

This is not the first time that master film-maker Sanjay Leela Bhansali has attempted a movie that has the protagonist suffering from a serious disability. In GUZAARISH, Hrithik Roshan suffers from Paraplegia, a complete paralysis of the lower half of the body, including both legs, usually caused by damage/injury to the spinal cord.

Bhansali has always been known for two things. The first thing is, of course, the visual splendour in his films [which was quite evident in HUM DIL DE CHUKE SANAM, DEVDAS and SAAWARIYA] and the second thing that he takes inspiration from various stories. The critically acclaimed BLACK was inspired from THE MIRACLE WORKER [a 1962 film] and SAAWARIYA from 'White Nights', a Russian short story.

There's talk that GUZAARISH is a remake of Christopher Nolan's Hollywood movie THE PRESTIGE, which, let me clarify, it is not. GUZAARISH brings back memories of two films, which may be coincidental: The Spanish Oscar and Golden Globe winning film MAR ADENTRO aka THE SEA INSIDE [2004], which, in turn, was based on a real-life story of Ramon Sampedro and WHOSE LIFE IS IT ANYWAY?, a television play which was later adapted into a play [theatre] and much later into a film [1981].

Bhansali has worked himself to the grind and his presence is felt in every frame of GUZAARISH. There is an inimitable intellect that Bhansali brings to his movies. Bhansali is also known to extract the best performances from his actors. In a light-hearted vein, I would go to the extent of saying that Bhansali has the ability to make a dumb man speak and a sightless man see. His devotion and dedication towards his craft is truly inspirational and motivating. In GUZAARISH, Bhansali puts behind all the glitter and glamour and comes up with yet another unique and sensitive story told through a series of flashbacks.

Final word? GUZAARISH is special in more ways than one. In my individualistic opinion, it easily ranks amongst Bhansali's best works so far. Just don't miss this one!

Set in Goa, it tells the story of an accomplished magician Ethan Mascarenhas [Hrithik Roshan]. Ethan suffers serious injuries when one of his magical trick goes horribly wrong, turning him to a Paraplegic. Confined to a wheel chair, Ethan becomes a Radio Jockey at an FM Station called Radio Zindagi. His show talks of hope, laughter and sunshine and it's difficult to imagine that the man behind it has been immobilized with a spinal injury for the last fourteen years of his life. Sofia [Aishwarya Rai Bachchan], a nurse, takes good care of him; they share a silent love.

Ethan files a petition in court for mercy killing. This decision of Ethan leaves Sofia stunned. Ethan takes the help of friend-lawyer Devyani [Shernaz Patel] to support his appeal. Even Ethan's mother Isabel [Nafisa Ali] supports him in his petition, although Ethan is persuaded by his physician Dr. Nayak [Suhel Seth] to retract his case. Alongside all this, Omar [Aditya Roy Kapur] enters Ethan's life with the aim of learning magic from him. Impressed by Omar's love for magic, Ethan agrees to pass on his legacy to him.

Only a sensitive raconteur can do absolute justice to a challenging subject like the one in GUZAARISH and Bhansali seems the right candidate for an extremely tricky theme like mercy killing/Euthanasia. The story is complex and can only be narrated by a storyteller who has the art of telling stories most convincingly. Sure, the protagonist in GUZAARISH wants to end his existence, but that doesn't mean the film is disheartening or unsettling. Clearly, the writing [screenplay: Bhavani Iyer and Bhansali] is smart, taut and absorbing.

GUZAARISH has a number of sequences that bear the unmistakable stamp of a genius. Sample these…

* The courtroom sequence and Aishwarya's outburst towards the end of it.

* The hearing of the petition at Hrithik's house.

* Hrithik's act going wrong and the near-fatal accident.

* The finale.

Any negatives? The generous usage of English in the narrative. The language is sure to act as a barrier in the hinterland specially. Agreed, the film is set in Goa, they are bound to speak that language, but despite everything, Hindi is a must for a pan-India appeal.

Irrespective of how his films fare at the box-office, Bhansali's films have always been embellished with rich and cherished music. The songs continue to linger in the hearts of the listeners with their dulcet and soothing tunes. After legendary Satyajit Ray and Vishal Bhardwaj, Bhansali is the next accomplished film-maker who has himself created the music of his film. The songs in GUZAARISH are more inclined towards poetry that's earthy and contemporary. However, it does take some time for the listeners to sense the pulse of the music. 'Tera Zikr Hai Ya Itra Hai' is a limerick to exquisiteness, 'Sau Gram Zindagi', with its philosophical tone, leaves a lasting impression, the title track 'Guzaarish' casts a spell on you and 'Udi' is, of course, memorable.

GUZAARISH has been magnificently shot. The indoors as well as outdoors [the gorgeous panorama] add so much to the film. There's no refuting that cinematographer Sudeep K. Chatterjee has created some really alluring and enthralling visuals. The very effective and subtle background score [Tubby and Parik] of GUZAARISH is its very backbone. The feelings of intrigue, anxiety, anguish and romance come across so well. In fact, for the very first time, I felt that I was not hearing the background score, I was feeling it. Dialogue [Bhavani Iyer and Vibhu Puri] belong to high standards that touch your soul. Costumes [Sabyasachi] are absolutely wonderful; they gel well with the setting and mood of the film.

Hrithik and Aishwarya are seen in a lackluster facade and that's what makes the characters so plausible. While Hrithik is seen sporting a beard and has even put on weight, Aishwarya is seen in sober outfits. In fact, the two actors have gone through a drastic appearance change and both pressurize you to believe that they are indeed Ethan and Sofia. It must be said that Hrithik and Aishwarya exude a certain dignity and elegance, much needed for a sensitive film of this magnitude and caliber.

It must have been an arduous task for Hrithik to carry off the Paraplegic character of Ethan Mascarenhas, but he depicts the part with flourish. It's a great risk in filmy norms to have the hero of the film almost entirely on a wheel chair, but Hrithik has never hesitated or been irresolute in putting himself to adverse conditions, in order to achieve excellence, in whatever character he chooses to depict. Kudos to Hrithik for accepting a role that's truly opposite to his larger-than-life image and portraying it with elan.

Aishwarya, as Ethan's nurse who is the epicenter of his world, has approached this role with rare understanding, not going overboard even once. So effective is she that she not only influences you but also compels you to believe that their love is solid in its quiet strength and also spirited in their verbal sparring. The sensational chemistry, which sizzled the silver screen in DHOOM 2 and JODHAA AKBAR and won hearts all over, sizzles yet again, but this time in a distinctive aspect.

Aditya Roy Kapur is truly outstanding in a pivotal character. Shernaz Patel is exceptional. Nafisa Ali makes her presence felt in a small but significant role. Suhel Seth is in terrific form. Moni Kangana Dutta is okay. Vijay Crishna [judge] is effective. Rajit Kapoor does complete justice to his role. Makarand Deshpande leaves an impression. Ash Chandler and Achint Kaur lend good support.

On the whole, GUZAARISH is an invigorating tale. Bhansali, as a film-maker, has scaled several notches above his past accomplishments to create a near-perfect cinematic experience. The highpoint of the motion picture is the magnificently penned story of an incapacitated and debilitated man who desires to end his being with dignity. The film seduces the viewer with a strong emotional quotient, soulful music and of course, the crackling and wonderful onscreen chemistry between Hrithik and Aishwarya. Without doubt, GUZAARISH is one of the most profound, insightful and enriching dramas of the year.

Hrithik Roshan’s Sister Sunaina Roshan Gets Secretly Married - Photos

Sunaina Roshan finally decides to go public with her love story

Picture: Sunaina Roshan With Husband Mohan Nagar

Life inflicted one blow after another on Hrithik Roshan’s older sister Sunaina, but she braved her way through a failed marriage, single parenthood, a broken engagement and cancer. Though things are looking up for her again, life is still not hunky-dory. Her recent secret marriage resulted in her losing out on the support of her parents and brother with whom she had been staying for nearly ten years after her first marriage ended.

Since the past few weeks, there were rumours in the industry that Rakesh Roshan’s daughter had secretly remarried. When we called her last week, Sunaina dismissed it as a preposterous rumour. However, Sunaina called us up yesterday to spill the beans that she has indeed tied the knot with Mohan Nagar, who is in the construction business. Sunaina is no longer staying with her father at the Roshans’ Juhu residence, Palazzio. “We decided to get married three months ago (December 2009). Mohan and I stay at Lokhandwala, Andheri now,” says Sunaina.

Sunaina and Mohan had been dating for six months before they legalised their relationship. “We got married on January 20 in a temple and then registered our marriage in court,” says Mohan Nagar .

Recalling his dating period with Sunaina, Mohan says, “We met on a flight and got talking. After that, we kept in touch”. The rest, as they say, is history. However, the Roshans have clearly expressed their displeasure at Sunaina’s decision, to which Sunaina says hopefully, “They’ll come around in the next few months. I will convince them.” Sunaina, who is the co-producer of her father’s forthcoming film Kites, has also stopped working on the film due to the strain within the family.

Commenting further on her secret marriage, she adds, “I am very happy with Mohan as he is a fantastic guy. When we fell in love, we just knew that we had to get married. There is nothing about him that I don’t like.”

Sunaina was earlier married to Ashish Soni, who is now married to telly actress-anchor Shonali Malhotra. Sunaina and Ashish were married for eight years and parted ways in 2000. They have a 13-year-old daughter who stays with Ashish and Shonali. In 2005, Sunaina was engaged to US-based Nick Udaysingh but the engagement did not culminate in marriage.

This is Mohan’s second marriage too. “I was born and brought up in Mumbai. I had migrated to Canada but am now settled in India. I was married earlier but that marriage ended in divorce,” says Mohan. Though Sunaina had said that her family was livid, dad Rakesh Roshan was rather cool about it. “I am happy if she is happy,” he said.

Hrithik Roshan for the new Provogue Advert

I looked at the recent Provogue Ads of Hrithik but I am sorry to say that I liked neither of his look. I cannot just go with his bearded look and disheveled hair, I feel that makes him look very unclean. I wonder why he is up to that look. Which looks among these is your favorite? Both or one or none?
