Akshay-Twinkle renewing their wedding vows

Akshay Kumar, Bobby Deol, Irrfan Khan and Sunil Shetty is trying to re-register their weddings

Come Friday, Akshay Kumar, Bobby Deol, Irrfan Khan and Sunil Shetty expect to get the necessary approval to re-register their marriages at the Bandra Family Court.

Getting a second registration done (while the original one is still valid) is still technically possible, the cast has requested the court to grant them special permission to go through the entire registration process again, their wives in tow. So Akshay-Twinkle, Bobby-Tanya, Irrfan-Sutapa and Sunil-Mana will make a beeline to the Family Court.

A source reveals, "It was Akshay who suggested they do something around renewing their wedding vows. His co-stars were more than willing to co-operate. Since all the four actors are married, they also wanted to spring a sweet surprise on their wives by doing so."

The men want to re-register their marriages at the Bandra Family Court, and have requested the registrar to allow them to do so. Since they have given a short notice period, the request is still pending.

But given the clout of the actors and the media attention it would bring the court, chances are they might be given approval.

Bazmee confirms, "When Akki came up with this idea, I was amazed. Thank You is all about infidelity, so to go and prove your fidelity seemed like a brilliant idea. We hope to get the permission to re-register these marriages."

Twinkle gifts hubby Akshay Rs 3.5 lakh Harley from US

Twinkle gifted her husband Akshay Kumar a custom-made Harley-Davidson shipped all the way from USA

Twinkle gifted her husband Akshay Kumar a custom-made Harley-Davidson shipped all the way from USA. The bike cost over $7000 (almost R 3.5 lakh).

Says a source close to Akki, "AK loves bikes and has been riding the same one for years. He has always dreamed of owning a customised high-end bike.

This time, on their tenth anniversary, Twinkle decided to gift him the bike. It's maroon-and-chrome and has specialised features."

Special delivery

Akshay has always wanted a bike with a laidback, comfortable seat as he likes to ride with Aarav and Tina in the pillion.

The good biwi made sure she got all of her hubby's specifications noted and then ordered it all the way from the office in USA and asked them to deliver it on their anniversary (January 17).

Khiladi Kumar was stunned to see the bike, adds the insider, "He immediately took Tina and Aarav out for a spin in Juhu.

Most wives would think of giving their husbands something safer but Twinkle knows her guy is an extremely safe driver who would never take unnecessary risks.

Whenever he's riding his bike, Akshay wears his helmet and undertakes all the safety measures one requires for a safe ride."

Hit Anushka gets her place in Patiala House with Akki

Anushka Sharma has taken precedence in new posters in stead of Rishi Kapoor

The first look poster of Nikhil Advani's Patiala House was to initially feature only Akshay Kumar and Rishi Kapoor as the film focuses on the emotional father-son relationship that their characters share.

However, after the recent success of Band Baaja Baaraat, the makers have decided to chuck it and use the Anushka-Akshay jodi to promote the film.

A source reveals, "Though there's a parallel track of cricket and supporting characters, the central theme is the father-son (Akki plays Gattu while Rishi plays his Bauji) relationship.

The initial poster was made keeping this sentiment in mind. Their strategy was to promote the film as a father-son story with lot of emotional drama."

The marketing team of the film will now be using the poster with Akki and Anushka to promote it. It is believed that things changed with the success of Yash Raj's Band Bajaa Baaraat.

"After the positive response to Anushka, the makers decided to pitch the film as a love story between Akshay and her rather than a dad-son drama.

As a result the poster also underwent a change with Rishi going in the background with rest of the cast."

However, director Nikhil Advani claims they always had option of using many posters, "Anushka is a great actress and we are happy that she is a part of Patiala House.

She has proved her talent and charm in her recent hit as well.

So all in all, it's going to be a good experience in Patiala House. Plus, using multiple posters to draw in the audiences was always part of our strategy."

Akshay upbeat on Indo-Pak cricket team

Bollywood star Akshay Kumar, who was here Friday to promote his film "Tees Maar Khan", said the joint team of India and Pakistan would prove the best team in the world, Geo News reported Monday.

Talking to Geo News correspondent Badar Muneer Chaudhry, the star said his movies earn the most in Pakistan and love which he receives from Pakistan is unmatched anywhere else.

Kumar said he loved Lahore cuisines saying, ‘I happened to eat some Lahori specialties which I relished a great deal.’

Bollywood star Akshay Kumarsaid he expected the film to repeat the success of his previous hits and called Canada a heaven on earth.

"What you are going to see in 'Tees Maar Khan' is total entertainment. It is a Bollywood masala movie which will appeal to everyone,'' said the actor. The film is due for release next week.

In the film, directed by Farah Khan and jointly produced by his wife Twinkle Khanna, Akshay plays a con man named Tabrez Mirza Khan, with Katrina in the role of his girlfriend Anya.

"I play the role of an uneducated con man who plans to rob a train containing 10,000 kg of antiques. The script is so good that all characters come along with me and I am conning all of them. I rob the train with their help but no one among them knows that they are helping me,'' said Akshay Kumar, rating Katrina as his favourite actress.

The actor credited Farah Khan with doing an excellent job of directing the film. "She did a great job. Because of its excellent script, the film has created new 'muhawara' (idiom) in dialogue,'' he said, reciting a few lines used in the film.

About his own role, he said, "I have been an entertainer for the past 22 years. I have done it in this film and will keep doing it in the future.''

Asked why he chooses Canada more than other countries for shooting and releasing his films, he said he has fallen in love with this country. "I love Canada since I did my first film here 17-18 yeas ago. I have been here hundreds of times, but every time I love coming here again. I tell people in India that if they want to see 'jannat' (heaven) on this planet, they should visit Canada,'' said the actor who is currently serving as a brand ambassador in India for the Canadian Tourism Commission.

The star, who finished shooting his first Hollywood film 'Break Away' here some time ago, said, "The film will be released in May-June. We have sold its distribution rights to Alliance Atlantis."

Asked whether Bollywood standards were declining, he said, " No, Bollywood's standards are going up. While they used to release up to 500 prints, now these numbers are up to 2,500.''

He also expressed ignorance about his role in Deepa Mehta's proposed film "Komagata Maru". "I don't know anything about the film. Nobody has approached me.''

Asked to rate his favourite hero and heroine, he said, "I like watching Sanjeev Kumar...... and Katrina Kaif."

Akki to romance Sonakshi!

Akshay Kumar is getting into the fourth gear of his promotions for Tees Maar Khan that is releasing worldwide on December 24.

Simultaneously his banner Hari Om Productions, that has given us entertainers like Singh is Kinng, De Dana Dan, Khatta Meetha, Waqt — A Race against Time, and Farah Khan's Three is Company have signed Bollywood's youngest girl Sonakshi Sinha for Shirish Kunder's Joker.

Shirish says, "Joker will be India's first 3-D magnum opus. And the reason why I've signed Sonakshi is because she is ideally suited for the role. Also, Akshay has acted with almost every heroine on the scene. Sonakshi and he are a fresh pair; the casting is already creating ripples.'' Says the Khiladi himself, "Joker is not a super-hero film. It is not about me wearing some clown's clothes or being part of a circus. Why it is called Joker is something you'll have to wait to know. However, I can tell you, it is going to be one of the most technically advanced movies made in India. Children and adults are going to love it. The story moves from a village to NASA and well after that there's some suspense involved.''

Even as he gears up to romance the Dabangg hottie, Akshay says that 2011 will be as action packed as any other year in his career. Says he, "I have Patiala House, Thank You, Joker, my international film — Rob Lowe's Break-Away (in which I have just done a music video), and we may try and bring Joker for Christmas in 2011. But then, tell me one year in which I don't have four films coming.'' Shirish and Farah Khan are also working on the Tees Maar Khan sequel. "That is for 2012,'' Akki says. "Right now the three of us are putting all our energies into Joker."

Naturally Sonakshi is also excited about her second big break. "I got to work with one superstar in Dabangg and now I'm getting an opportunity to work with the second one,'' she says. "Very few people get a break such as this. The fact that Joker will be in 3-D is taking my excitement to a whole new level." Adds Farah, "We have had a happy collaboration on TMK.

We have made a good entertaining film in the budget we were allotted. The synergy has been really good. So Akki, Shirish and I decided to make one more film." Farah says the script of Joker lends itself to a 3-D format quite nicely. "Joker is not a love story,'' she says. "It's more of a human drama and a very visual film.''

Sonakshi-Akshay To Star In India's First 3D Film 'Joker'

It is finally official. After much speculation as to who will be the female lead of the upcoming 3D film Joker (Katrina Kaif and Sonakshi Sinha being the chief contenders), it is the Dabangg girl who has finally struck the chord with filmmaker Sirish Kunder.

Touted as the first 3D project in Bollywood, Joker has already generated a lot of buzz not only for its content but also for the lead pair of Akshay and Sonakshi. Director Sirish Kunder was searching for a fresh pair for his upcoming movie and the Akshay Kumar - Sonakshi Sinha jodi looked perfect, the director stressing on the fact that Sonakshi also completely fits into the character as the female lead opposite Akshay's character.

Though titled Joker, the Akshay Kumar - Sonakshi Sinha starrer does not tell the story of a joker in a circus. Neither is it the story of a superhero, as was perceived by many after they heard that the film was to be made in 3D. Akshay Kumar is not prepared to reveal details on the plot yet and we as audience will also have to wait till next year to catch a glimpse of Joker.

All that can be said now is that Sonakshi Sinha is gradually getting a good grasp in Bollywood. After having worked with Salman Khan in her debut film, Akshay Kumar as co-star in the second film itself is something that many actresses will die for. The Dabangg girl too accepts the fact, promising to improve with each film. Joker hits the screens on Christmas next year.

Katrina Kaif And Akshay Kumar: A Hit Jodi!

Katrina Kaif and Akshay Kumar are two of the most loved stars in tinsel town. Both of them have established themselves in the world of glitz and glamor with amazing success.

The stars has undergone a long career with periods of struggle. But to put the long story short, let's point out the main aspects of their career together.

The fact that both have come from completely diverse backgrounds with no Godfather or Godmother in the industry and no family lineage in the glamour world has made them stand on a platform which deserves appreciation if not accolades.

Katrina Kaif who has a Brit background was far away from the glitzy world of cinema. She has been brought up with many siblings and had only come to the city of glamour to make it big as a model. Even though her first foray into Bollywood was a total thud, she struck gold with her film Namaste London opposite Akshay Kumar.

Akshay Kumar, who had been working as a cook in Bangkok had come to B-town with stars in his eyes. He did taste success with quite a few films initially, but then during his rough patch he was completely at a juncture with no films in hand.

Thus when Vipul Shah came forward with this film, he instantly agreed. Then there was no looking back for both Akshay and Katrina. The film was a super hit and so was this jodi.

Of course their other flicks together were also successful, but what is awaited with much enthusiasm is the forth coming Tees Maar Khan. So watch out for this great entertainment bonanza.

John Travolta-Akki to dance on stage together?

John Travolta’s visit to Mumbai at a time when Akshay Kumar’s retro John Travolta act in Vipul Shah’s Action Replayy is hotting up, appears to be an uncanny coincidence.

Vipul Shah has noticed the favourable turn of fortune too. His production team is right now busy negotiating with Travolta’s office to work out an audacious collaboration between Travolta and his desi counterpart Akshay Kumar.

Yes, the two will be dancing together at a live event. Vipul is in serious talks for this historic coming together.

Akshay Kumar who loves collaborating with international entertainers (Kylie Minogue in Blue, Snoop Dogg in Singh Is Kinng, RDB in Kambakkht Ishq) has also pitched in very strongly for an evening of collaborative Saturday Night Fever.

Akshay is apparently using his Canadian connection to convince convince Travolta to get jiggy on stage with the Kumar.

When contacted Vipul Shah tries to underplay the excitement of a Travolta-Kumar concert. “There are talks going on. But talking about it would only make things difficult. You see, negotiating with an international star is painstaking. Water-tight contracts have to be drawn up. Unquestionable deals have to be sealed. We’re in the process of doing all that. But like I said I can’t talk about it until the papers are signed. ”

While Vipul plays it safe it is reliably learnt that Travolta’s songs and dances from Saturday Night Fever and Grease are being handpicked as part of this historic live performance.

Let’s hope Travolta would have more to do in Akshay’s presence on stage than the other Hollywood icon Sylvester Stallone had to do in Kambhakkt Ishq.

Akshay's new strategy for avoiding flops

He’s working for free!

Akshay Kumar won’t be charging anything for his next two films – “Khatta Meetha” and “Tees Maar Khan” – which are being co-produced by his production house Hari Om Productions.

Trade circles say that Akki, who has reportedly even signed a film for a fee as high as Rs.71 crore, has had a change of mind.

The actor explains the logic behind this drastic move of not charging his market fee: "My fee for both the films will be zero. If both films are hits, then my production house will stand to benefit by getting a part of the profits. If the film is average, the profit margin will automatically be reduced. However, it's important to note here that even if the film flops, no one will lose money because the budget has been controlled."

It’s believed that Akshay’s astronomical fee for films like “Chandni Chowk To China”, “8x10 Tasveer” and “Kambakkht Ishq” unrealistically increased the budgets of these movies making it hard for them to recover the huge investments thereby causing them to tank at the box office.
