Crossroads

This week has been a real "Crossroads" week (for those of you not from the UK, "Crossroads" was a soap opera on the TV from the 1960's and then revamped in 2001). I've spent the afternoon watching lots of the revamped episodes on video and then googled my way around the net til I found these interesting Crossroads websites:

http://crossroadsnetwork.co.uk/

http://www.crossroads2001.co.uk/

.........and it turns out my very good friend Norman visited the studios after the demise of the soap opera.Read his visit here: http://www.planetcrossroads.co.uk/afterxroads/index2.php

I've just joined the forum @Crossroadsnetwork as Adam Chance (he was a smooth charmer married to Jill Harvey in Crossroads), hope I get time to post in there once in a while..............

Mikey D's Blogdiggity

Mikey D's Blogdiggity

As I was spending my day doing erm........... nothing (cos i`m on holiday), I came across the above Blog - the most interesting of the day - for someone who is 22 yrs old, his Blog was both funny and yet thought provoking - I felt like he was being totally honest in what he wrote, and by the end of it I felt like I actually knew Mikey and his girlfriend!

OK, now I know I've spent too much time indoor during this holiday because:

  • I keep leaving the washing up til the next day
  • I've still not done my ironing
  • I'm wearing briefs not boxers
  • No job seems to be completed
  • All thoughts of decorating have gone
  • My bum hurts from sitting down on this seat too much
  • I'm masturbating way too much

My Holiday Moan...........

Its half way through my week off and all is not going as planned, I keep getting distracted by that curse called the "internet" and so not getting much done. My main distraction has been http://www.hospitalityclub.org/ as people ask about places to stay for free!
Apart from that I spent a fortune buying lots of food yesterday , just before the plumber serviced my boiler and fixed the problems - all for £175.........My oh my!

Then my MP3 player still isn't sorted out, my PC has decided to make lettering twice as big as normal for no apparent reason, my wages still haven't been corrected since May and I've got a pile of ironing still to do.
Finally, I'm supposed to be in both London AND Banbury on Friday because I'm meeting an ex-girlfriend and an ex-workmate in two different locations at the same time - why am I such a bad planner?

Right my moaning is over - I'm still on my 4 hour tea break ......... I really shouldn't have holidays!!

For those people you really can't stand

You know those people that really make your life miserable? My favorite colleague has found something perfect for them. Here is the picture she sent to me...We're thinking of getting one for our boss. And maybe a couple for our non-working co-workers. And maybe a few more, as Christmas gifts.Huuummm... the way we are probably there won't be many left for you folks to buy.

Here is another excellent informative Blog I found:

http://streettechdivide.blogspot.com/

I'd never heard of the "Invisibility Cloak" until I read his Blog. (see below)

Believe It Or Not ( click on photo for actual video )No need for dressing up in all black when trying to be sneaky. Instead wrap yourself in an invisibility cloak and prance around like fool without being noticed… Well perhaps it hasn’t come that far, but the “invisibily cloak” has now become a reality. The material itself is like a large flexible display and a camera takes what it sees on the opposite side and displays it on the back making it ’see through’. It’s kind of like an invisibility the Preditor uses. The invisible material is made of thousands of tiny beads. Susumu Tachi, who showed off the cloak at an exhibition in San Francisco earlier this month, said he was hopeful of providing a way to provide a view of the outside in windowless rooms.Sources:http://news.bbc.co.uk/2/hi/technology/3791795.stm http://www.wired.com/wired/archive/11.08/pwr_invisible_pr.html

New layout and Guestbook

I first starting Blogging back in February but since I'm on holiday this week and have far too much free time - thought it was time for a change - so here it is!

Let's see how long I last without getting bored with these colours.

I've also added a guestbook on the left of the screen for people to sign - so hopefully anyone reading this will feel a sudden urge to sign sign sign................

Damn Technology!

I may be on holiday this week but there is always something fresh to take up my time.................
Today it is the turn of technology, and my lack of knowledge as to how it all works!

I bought an MP3 player last week since my PC is so old an iPod just wouldn't work on it, but alas this blooming thing comes up with "No Memory Found", which automatically means trying to figure out "WHY" for the next few days, I've been trying to get the damn thing to work for the past few days and it's all lost on my tiny brain.

Watch this space and find out if I eventually install the MP3 player or if I end up sending it back and starting all over again!!

To Poland With Love.............

Summer has come to an end and so has the stay of my two housemates Luke and Natalia, who have been staying at mine over the summer. They have gone back to Poland for Uni /exams etc and now the house is all quite here. It's been great having a set of good housemates. While alot of the other Polish visitors down the street had wild parties, Luke and Natalia treated my house with respect and looked after it. Dillon (my cat) will also miss them, as will Alex of course.

Meanwhile here in my house it is all so so quiet ............ I'm not complaining though cos I love it!

My Latest Ebay Addictions

Ebay is keeping my attention lately, I've been spending a bit too much time looking for my next car - which WILL be my next car. I've been more than happy with my Rover 25 but more and more I long for a piece of British motoring history - the MINI car (.............And no I don't mean the BMW sort!).
Then my other affection has been for all things "tat" to do with "Crossroads", the long running British Soap Opera that I grew up with. It may have been consigned to the TV bin forever but thanks to *ebay , I've been able to buy some bits and bobs to keep the childhood memories alive!

TV Night: "Arsenic and Old Lace"

A relaxing evening after a long day ........... I've got TCM on and I'm watching Cary Grant in the 1944 black and white movie "Arsenic and Old Lace" , a film I've seen a few times but always makes me smile. The two Aunts in the picture are so sweet - just don't go around for dinner or wine!

Chocolate Cake

See what happens when you have a warm sticky American Chocolate Cake! Several glasses of Blossom Hill Wine helped get things going so it was only natural that the chocolate would be spread around our faces.
Oh and .............. yes we ate ALL the cake.

My Favourite Canadian - Angie.

- Angie and me at 3am in the morning.

I've known Angie for about 2 years now on my favourite net place (DenDen) and over these 2 years Angie has proved herself to be such a great friend time and time again.
Meeting up at the weekend was a pleasure for me - Angie is totally mad and bursts to the brim with a zest for life. This girl truly knows how to have a good time as Saturday night proved. She danced and partied the whole night and it wasn't alcohol that made her do this but her love of music and dance. I wish I had been in the mood to dance as well cos I know Angie would have taken care of me!
Angie is the sort of person who always puts others first and I noticed how during the night would make sure everyone else was OK or having fun - what a star.

Now I know the wedding pictures show a different side http://www.denden-forums.com/viewtopic.php?t=67471 but life is about having fun and letting go once in a while, so if I can get away with throwing up in a theatre then Angie is forgiven for having a blast at her close friends wedding - one of the many reasons we love Angie so much is because she is always genuine and fun.

Thank you Angie for being YOU.

Bananadrama!

This weekend was a chance to catch up with Norm (aka "LipGloss Bitch" and long time member of "Boys Aloud" - you have to be on DenDen to understand the plot!) and catch up on all the gossip and have a laugh along the way. The afternoon in Hyde Park saw the birth of "Bananadrama" (Norm loves Bananarama so it only seemed natural a name would follow).

As the picture shows, it's me on the left, Alex in the middle and Norm on the right. Before the night was over I'd already been dropped from Bananadrama - I will be making the album sleeve but my vocal talents were not needed.

DenDen Weekend in London.

1. Angie and me about 3am after the night out.

2. Norman and me "The LipGloss Reunion" pose!

3. Alex,Norman,Jamie and Lauren doing the Spice Girls "Forever" pose.

4. The actual "Forever" cover!

Finally after months of talk about the DenDen wedding, the happy couple Chris and Dee finally tied the knot this weekend. It gave us forum members a good reason to meet up and celebrate. Angie had flown in from Canada, Dennis & Inge from Germany, Marc from Holland, Carl from Belgium and then there were those of us who had traveled from various parts of the UK whether it be Ipswich or Wales, Coventry or London - seeing the faces behind the forum is always a great pleasure.

I wish I had taken my camera now but these tiny mobile phone images are all I have for now but will wait until everyone else gets their prints online before I add some to the Blog.

Seeing my favourite Canadian Angie was a real gem - she's every bit lovely in real life as she is online. This girl knows how to party and yet still have time to mother each one of us. It was also the welcome return of the LipGloss Bitches (aka Norman and Robbie) - a concept born over a year ago and one that will always bring happy memories for me. I'm really happy that our friendship has weathered the storms and come through stronger than ever. Nothing can ever end the LipGloss Bitches reign at the top ................ We love a good bitch!

Then finally, the weekend was an opportunity to meet some familiar faces (Stannie,Marc,Charlotte,Tamir,Carl,Dee and Chris - of course!) and then get to know some more such as Swez Jon and agrofrog. Lauren (although a familiar face, I'd not had much of a chat with before) - was such great company both at Hyde Park and at the meal Saturday night. This Aussie is so sweet and funny, we could have talked for hours. How could I finish without mentioning the one and only Dennis - he looks fabulous in real life and kept me company when I wasn't in a clubbing mood.

To some a "forum" is nothing more than words on a screen, infact I used to feel that way until two years ago. I remember having a heated debate with Twister (Chris) about this - and his words proved true. Having met up with forum members on many occasions - I can truly say many of these same people have also become my friends. You all know who you are!
