Power Cut
Suddenly the electric went off tonight and all the streets around me were plunged into complete darkness. It was so very quiet and eerie as I sat in my dark bedroom. Within minutes I had the candles lit and the laptop playing Girls Aloud to break the silence.
This got me thinking - imagine if the electricity didn't come back - soon the freezer would defrost and food supplies be wasted. How long would it be before the gas supplies failed? Imagine not being able to cook the remaining food?
Then imagine life without television or internet. I noticed my wireless connection and "constantly on" internet isn't quite on at all times - it went off during the power cut. Soon the battery to the laptop would go flat as would the mobile phone.
Communication would become more difficult, eating would be harder and our whole lives would dramatically change.
Part of me loved the thought of a dramatic change in peoples lives and part of me makes me glad we have a near constant electricity supply.
Makes you think though.....................

I Want a Penis Reduction...............
.......... not me silly!
But I did wonder if anyone has ever asked for one. It was just a thought I had after hearing that a woman I know has had a breast reduction. My mind was ticking over and we know guys can get a penis enlargement, so imagine if it was too big and he wanted a reduction. I'm not being stupid here (or crude) but just tried to imagine what it would be like if it was too big. Well, I'm not going to go on and on, you get my drift now use your imagination and stop being rude!!

Top Advert - click click/cluck cluck!
Maybe not the best advert ever but I have fallen in love with those clever chickens in the Swiftcover.com adverts on TV. Seeing those chickens with headsets on reminds me of my days working in a call centre!

Over/Under Rated Music
No matter how much this band is in the press, they can never be hyped enough. This week they celebrate their second #1 UK single with "When The Sun Goes Down". The video is great and a worthy follow up to "I Bet You Look Good on the Dancefloor".
This is the greatest band to come out of the UK since Oasis, and I love their fresh sound and raw lyrics. Check them out here:
http://www.dominorecordco.com/site/index.php?page=multimedia&artistID=209&view=videos
Under Rated: The Darkness
Poor lads just can't do enough to please the British press, following their massive 1st album and award sucess - they rose to the dizzy heights of heaven! But a long gap between albums meant "One Way Ticket to Hell" has sent them down knocking on hells door itself. I love their style and fun attitude.
Check out their videos etc on their website:
http://www.thedarknessrock.com/media/
Over Rated: Eminem
In 2004 etc I loved Eminem and couldn't get enough of his cheeky attitude and white rapper tunes but 2006 brings a different story. I've had enough of Eminem and wished those curtains would close quickly and finally, once and for all.
I would have posted the link to his official website but it caused my PC to freeze and so I had to type all this out again - so i'm sorry Eminem - you can kiss my ass!
Over Rated: Hard-Fi
Adverts, reduced CD's everywhere, tacky "rock" wannabe video's - yet these lads are the most over rated band of 2006. Don't get me wrong - I "like" songs such as "Cash Machine" but they didn't deserve the #1 album this week. January is indeed a quiet month but oh lord, the record company has seriously plugged Hard - Fi until I'm blue in the face. STOP IT!
Listen to snippets here:

Under Rated: Simon Webbe
Ex Blue boy band member, Simon Webbe seems to have gone almost unnoticed by the mass media but his album has spent the past 10 weeks doing quite nicely in the charts (rising from #38 to #20 this week). His singles "Lay Your Hands", "No Worries" and "After All This Time" are just 3 great tracks on the album. He's got the tunes and he's also got the looks so it's about time he was hyped up more during 2006.

Brokeback Moutain Pictures & Movie Clips
It is 1963 in Signal, Wyoming where Jack Twist (1) waits for employment and meets Ennis Del Mar (2) where the pair are employed to look after the sheep on Brokeback Mountain (3). Over the summer they get to know each other and develop a friendship that turns to fun (4) but at the end of summer they part ways. Ennis marries Alma (5) and Jack eventually marries Laureen (6). Four years pass before Jack sends Ennis a postcard and the two spark up their friendship again. What follows is a complicated story of heartache and strife in this forbidden love story (7)

My "Brokeback Mountain" Review
I had heard snippets of news about this movie in the media but wasn't quite sure what to expect yet what it delivered was something far more satisfying......................
If you want a film with lots of stunning special effects or a happy ever after then this is not the kind of film you will want to see. This film is about real people and real lives, it is the story of love outside the normal parameters. At first you might be fooled into believing some media stories that portray this as a "gay" movie, this is something far deeper than that. It is a story of two very normal American men who, given the circumstances they were in form a deep bond that moves to another level. Yet, as for so many of us in the real world - love does not always turn out the way we would like and heartache is not far behind.
I struggled at first to understand the deep south American accent , and wished it was subtitled but once I got used to it I found it easier. Each of the films 4 main characters played a wonderful role. There were times when I felt joy and sadness while the film unfolded. Ennis del Mar (Heath Ledger) and Jack Twist (Jake Gyllenhaal), Alma (Michelle Williams), and Lureen Newsome (Anne Hathaway) living out their lives. The music score developed along with the plot and right throughout the 134 minutes and the scenery was totally breathtaking to view.
This has been undoubtedly been the best film I have seen in a long time, not for action or effects but for reality and emotion. I have been captured by the story of "Brokeback Mountain" and can't wait to see it again and finally own it on DVD later this year. It totally deserves numerous awards this year.

Posh on the catwalk
As reported in the media today Victoria Beckham took to the cat walk and doesn't she look totally fab!
Here's part of the article as reported by http://www.theage.com.au/news/fashion/posh-on-the-catwalk/2006/01/17/1137260029558.html
"Former Spice Girl Victoria Beckham took to the catwalk today during Milan's men's fashion week, donning a sexy white silk gown and gold stilettos for Roberto Cavalli.
Beckham, a frequent front-row guest at the Dolce & Gabbana shows, closed out Cavalli's opulent, Old World collection for the autumn-winter 2006-2007 with a solo walk that drew applause from the crowd.
Her pleated gown featured an enormous jewel-embroidered clasp on one side, and a sexy slit up the leg."

Celebrity Big Brother Views News - Axis of Evil
Forget all this talk about Iran, North Korea etc being the "Axis of Evil" - I have found the real Axis of Evil in the Celebrity Big Brother house. They are bully boys George Galloway, Michael Barrymore and Pete Burns. I can't wait for all three to get evicted from the house over the coming days. The way they bullied Jodie Marsh was totally unacceptable and unfair - I never really liked the girl before Celeb BB and I'm totally shocked the poor girl was evicted on Friday night (maybe I should have voted to keep her in!). Now may the vultures pick these 3 off one by one for their cruel attacks.
Poor "plastic" Pete Burns is threatening to walk out cos he's missing his boyfriend and being deprived of nicotine. I fear he may be in need of a touch of bottox to those hideous lips of his. He'd only walk out cos he's a drama queen , get to grips you twit! I feel like I should burn my Dead or Alive CD!
Meanwhile George is intend on becoming the house dictator and makes Saddam Hussein look friendly in comparison with his cigar smoking ........ May he burn LOL.
I hardly need to say a word about disgraced fallen star Michael Barrymore - I think being in the house will destroy him anyway. I've lost the final ounce of respect for that man since his actions in the house against Jodie. Bully!

It may have taken 18 years to finally get around to watching the Bette Midler in the movie "Beaches" but the wait was worth it! It's a pity I was distracted by washing up, doing lunch and paperwork, otherwise I'd have been crying my eyes out!
This is my kind of movie - it has friendships, happiness, tears and real life situations. Once again it reminds me how precious life is and the value of true friendship. Loved it!

Son of Dork (SOD!)
First we had Busted which featured James who can be seen above with Son of Dork, who have sprung up hot on the heals of McFly and former Busted bandmate's rock group Fightstar. So with all these transformations - are Son of Dork any good?
So far so good, I say! Their first song was all about Loserville and now their new track "Eddie's Song" is pretty funky and I'm loving the video which you can view here:
http://www.bbc.co.uk/totp/video/index.shtml (then select the Son of Dork video!)
You can also see a yummy picture of David and James here:
http://www.bbc.co.uk/radio1/chart/gallery/media/son_of_dork_4.jpg
Of course it's mindless trash along the lines of all the other "rock/pop" bands sprawning the scene since Canadian rockers Sum41. Very disposable but great fun to watch - may 2006 continue well for such bands.
Gosh I love James hair and would soooooooooooooooooo do mine like that if I wasn't such a dark head!
Big in 2006 - Arctic Monkeys
Just a few days into 2006 and I am already predicting that Arctic Monkeys will be the big band of 2006. They have a very distinctive and fresh sound which was proved with their #1 debut single. Below is a review from the HMV website:
"With their refreshing brand of gnarled poetry and youthful exuberance capturing the imagination of a rabid army of Internet followers and music industry hype, leading to the Number 1 smash hit single 'I Bet You Look Good On The Dancefloor', Arctic Monkeys launch straight into 2006 with new single ‘When The Sun Goes Down’, which was previously known to the die-hard fans as 'Scummy Man'. Taken from their debut album 'Whatever People Say I Am That's What I'm Not', which is out at the end of January, 'When The Sun Goes Down' is another blistering and edgy anthem that dares to take an unflattering look at the under-belly of inner city nightlife with an incredibly fresh, honest and humorous approach."
Watch this band explode with success during the year!

Single of the Month
Will Young - "All Time Love"
This song has been playing on the radio and on the music channels over the past few weeks and has really melted my heart. It's a powerful love ballad and Will's voice has me transfixed every time I hear it. The single hit's the UK on Monday (16/01/06) and I hope it gets to number 1 because it's well deserved!
Possibly the best song yet from Mr Young??!!

"I just slept with a woman!" *EXCLUSIVE*
*EXCLUSIVE*
Oh I love a bit of gossip, and even better when it's about myself............................
This weekend I went away to Wales with my friend Lyn, to visit our friends who own a pub there. We had a great time catching up with old friends and listening to everyone doing kareoke. Lots of free booze and then I got to share the double bed with Lyn. My lips are sealed!
New Year - New Pictures
It's a New Year and another good reason to go out and get drunk or have a good time so here are 3 pictures taken on my phone this past week.
1. Robmacca getting ready to go clubbing
2. Alex standing by the Christmas trees in Coventry
3. Robmacca extreme close-up
I guess I'm making the most of my hair cos this tear I plan to have it cut short, never to grow it long again. Let's face it - I'm no spring chicken, infact I'm more like a clapped out old horse waiting for the knackers yard but I would hate to offend myself too much!
Indeed it's a New Year and I'm looking forward to 2006, it's got off to a flying start and I'm loving life so much. I'm grateful for the people in my life and for health itself, I have so much to be thankful for.
If you know me - then I'm glad your part of my life as well ...... Raise your glasses for 2006!

Lesbian Dancing
I was dancing with some lesbians last night (and damn good fun it was as well!) but I couldn't help but think - do gay/lesbians secretly or unsubconsciously want to dance with the opposite sex because they "miss" that sexual interaction?
I'm not saying that lesbians suddenly want a man or that gay men want women, but in a fun way I think that gay people enjoy dancing with the opposite sex in a "sexual" way almost as a reminder of what its like on the other side of the fence.
Oh I should shut up cos I can't explain myself very well !! You may have guessed we were back at "Five Monkeys" in Coventry and were very much in the minority as guys but we had a hell of a laugh. The manager and bar staff are really friendly, although I wouldn't be surprised if we got banned for bad behaviour (I won't go into details but we got really drunk again!) Anyway we loved the music and ended up dancing with the lesbians - another fantastic night I must say!

Laptop Joy
I bought a new laptop on New Years Eve to work along side my ageing PC (1998) and I have to say I am well impressed. Having it wireless must be one of the biggest advantages - I am sooooooooooooo looking forward to sitting in the garden with it come the summer.
Meanwhile I can make the most of winter and watch cable TV downstairs, instead of being limited by my TV upstairs with its 5 channels!
It's hard earnt money well spent .................... and for those that think I'll be using my extra memory space to store lots of pictures from the internet - your damn right!

New Year Round Up...........
1. Alex drunk with a rose in his mouth.
2. Rob & Alex do Birmingham.
3. Looking bad - but nice lights!
It's been a mad few days, my fingers are aching (from all the texting you dirty person!). Alex is staying at mine for a while so it means less net time for me.
So I'll just fill you in with what's been happening in the world of robmacca over the past few days ...................
New Years Eve we went to a new bar in Coventry called "Five Monkeys", which turned out to be a great night out. It cost £20 to get in but drinks were FREE til 1am. So Alex gave up his "no drinking" for the night and we sat drinking quite happily throughout the night. The owner is fantastic and I've so much respect for her cos she has finally brought some competition to Coventry's only other gay bar! The pub is proving a hit with the lesbians and us guys were out numbered (8 to 2 ratio) but the atmosphere was groovy and the decor fantastic. The DJ was also female and proved that women know how to play good music! Overall it was a New Year well spent and I'll be going back more in 2006 to show my support.
Meanwhile..........................................................
* I bought myself a new laptop in the January sales
* I might be seeing Take That in May
* Got 2 Melanie C "Beautiful Intentions" CD's in the sales for £1.97 EACH!
Last night we went out for a Chinese meal and then watched "Chicago" with my fab friends Simon and Torben and today I'm going to set up my laptop (hopefully) and then call into my brothers and give him a "Coventry City football calendarer (lets hope they win as well today!) and finally get to watch King Kong tonight.
Back to work tomorrow and I'll be back on my Blog asap, so keep checking for updates.
